EUROVIA COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL LAB TESTING OF RESPERION’S INTEGRABASE

IntegraBase Shines in Full Battery of Physical and Mechanical Tests Including Adhesion, Wet Strength, Rutting, Modulus and Cold Weather Performance

Prague, Czech Republic, January 19, 2011  -- Resperion, a global pioneer in the creation and development of innovative technologies and solutions for the road construction industry, today announced that the lab tests performed by Eurovia yielded successful results for Resperion’s IntegraBase asphalt modifier. The tests confirmed IntegraBase’s ability to increase strength, improve adhesion, and decrease rutting in asphalt mixtures. Eurovia performed a full battery of tests including spectroscopy, adhesion of asphalt to aggregate, water resistance, resistance to permanent deformation, resilient modulus, and cold weather cracking.

This was an exclusive test conducted by Eurovia to confirm IntegraBase as a viable solution to improve the performance and longevity of IntegraBase-treated base and binder courses in the Czech Republic, as well as other global markets. These tests highlighted the unique modification abilities of IntegraBase, improving physical and mechanical properties that are not attainable by any other product.

“The most recent tests conducted by Eurovia provide unquestionable proof that IntegraBase is a one-of-a-kind product for building superior roads.” said Resperion Chief Executive Officer Josh Benveniste. “We look forward to Eurovia utilizing IntegraBase to build stronger, longer lasting roads at a fraction of the cost of untreated roads.”

The report, titled “Laboratory Effect of the IntegraBase Catalyst on the Properties of Compacted Asphalt Mixture,” contains the results of numerous laboratory tests comparing unmodified 50/70 pen bitumen and an IntegraBase modified 50/70 pen bitumen. Also included in the report is a spectroscopy test of the IntegraBase modified mix and the untreated mix, confirming the molecular change of the modified mix.

“The results obtained show that the IntegraBase additive has improved the adhesion of the original binder to the aggregate.” wrote Eurovia’s Testing Project Manager Petr Bureš. “After the test, 100% of the coated surface remained. Adhesion is thus evaluated as excellent.”

Highlights from the report include:

  • In the adhesion of asphalt to aggregate test, IntegraBase achieved 100% coating compared to 94.5% by the untreated sample- a rating of Excellent vs. Good.
  • IntegraBase improved the resistance of the asphalt mixture to water; IntegraBase’s indirect tensile strength tests were 46% and 50% greater than the unmodified mix for the dry and wet conditioned specimens, respectively.
  • IntegraBase increased the modulus of the mix by almost 30 percent at 150C
  • The cooling test demonstrated a resistance of the IntegraBase modified mixture to shrinkage (cold weather cracking) at the base layer down to -200C
